Laboratory-grade Splitter Optical Fiber Assemblies
| A splitter (at right) is a 2-meter, Y-shaped
assembly with a stainless steel breakout located midway from the ends
of the assembly. Each splitter is made up of three separate optical
fibers, all of the same diameter, and epoxied at the nexus of the
Y-shaped assembly. A splitter can route light from two different
sources to illuminate one sample or from one source to illuminate two
samples. Splitters have lower transmission efficiency than other fiber
assemblies due to their design. |
