Reflection/Backscattering Probes for Solutions & Powders

We offer a series of Fiber Optic Reflection / Backscattering Probes that couple to our spectrometers and light sources to create small-footprint optical-sensing systems for measuring reflection and fluorescence in liquids and powders.

Our angled probes also have a six-around-one design, but employ a 30° window to remove specular reflection effects when the probe is immersed in powders or dense solutions. We offer the angled probe with two different diameter fibers, 200 µm and 400 µm. Our Angled Reflection / Backscattering Probes can be ordered from our Laboratory-grade and Premium-grade assembly product lines.

Our Reflection / Backscattering Probes are based on a natural close-packing arrangement of optical fibers. Typically, the arrangement is a tight bundle of seven optical fibers -- six illumination fibers around one read fiber. This arrangement ensures parallel orientation of the fibers. The center or read fiber splits from the other six fibers and couples to a spectrometer. The outer six illumination fibers connect to the light source.

*  LTBR stands for Long Term Bend Radius, the bend radius allowed long term (such as for storage) before damaging the fiber.
** STBR stands for Short Term Bend Radius, the momentary bend radius allowed before damaging the fiber.
